We can take care of your company registration on your behalf

Company registration can be a challenging process, especially if you are unsure of how or where to complete your registration. Letting a professional financial firm take care of your CIPC registration will prove to be beneficial to you in many ways – not only will we be able to advise you on whether your company needs to be registered, we will get your company registered in a short amount of time and spare you the endless amount of administration it entails, such as requesting a tax clearance certificate, etc.  The registration process entails registration with The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, more details thereon appear below.

The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) was established on the 1st of May 2011, and emerged from the combination of the Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office (CIPRO) and the Office of Company and Intellectual Property Enforcement (OCIPE).

The CIPC was established under the Companies Act of 2008, to function as an organ of state and as part of the public administration. As a juristic person, the commission’s main functions are:

  • To manage the registration of companies, co-operatives and intellectual property rights, such as trademarks, patents, designs and copyright
  • Disclose information on business registrars
  • To promote awareness on Company and Intellectual Property Law
  • To advocate the benefits of complying with all relevant legislation
  • Monitor compliance with financial standards and making recommendations on improving it
  • For reporting and research purposes, to advise the Minister on national matters in relation to company and intellectual property law

Why you may need to register your business

Registering your business is crucial if your company wishes to transact with the government or formal sector. Company registration also holds certain tax advantages, as businesses are taxed lower than individuals. For some businesses, such as sole proprietors and informal businesses, however, there may not be sufficient benefits to completing a company registration with the CIPC. For these companies, it is still imperative to register with the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

At Pienaar Stofberg, we will take care of your trust or company’s registration, from dealing with the CIPC, obtaining your tax clearance certificate, to registering your trademark. For expert advice and assistance on officially registering your business, contact us, today.
